Meiletu Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by the No. 2 Regional Survey Party under the Geological Bureau of Liaoning Province in 1974. The naming section is located in the Meiletu Mts of the Kundu-Lengsumu area of the Ari region, Zalute Banner, in the Jarud Qi of Inner Mongolia (119º32', 45º13').

Lithology and Thickness
The Meiletu Formation is a group of intermediate-basic volcanic rocks, intercalated with intermediate-acid volcanic rocks and volcanic clastic sedimentary rocks. Composed essentially of black, grey-green, grey-violet and violet-black biotite-muscovite andesite, pyroxene-andesite, rhyolitic andesite, pyroxene-andesitic basalts and basalts, intercalated locally with thin layers of tuffs. It is 283.2 m thick at the type section and 206~306 m in the region.

It is in a conformable contact with the underlying Baiyingaolao Fm volcanics

Regional extent
It is distributed in the Erenhot – Bugt area and the Da Hinggan Mountain, essentially in the Sha’ermaori area in the northwestern part of the Zalute Banner north of the Xilamulun River, in the northwestern part of the Julihei area, in the Fuxingtun Village of the Right-wing Front Banner of Korxin region, Shabuleng Mts and the region north of the Hanshan−Mt Forestry Farm, all with the intermediate-basic volcanic lavas being the predominant rock types.
